Eon One Pro - Uses and Best Practices

Updated on

This article will explain the Eon One Pro, various ways to use it, and the best practices to maintain it.

Why did I receive two EON One Pros?

The Central Tech team has moved from the Fender Passports to Eon One Pros. We have worked with leadership to get two at every location. These speakers are a creative way for campus teams to create a fun and inviting atmosphere in the lobby, during events, or just for fun.

In the event of a power failure (or DSP failure), two Eon One Pros can be used to create a sound system in the auditorium. Click this link for more info on the emergency use of these speakers.

Ideas for Use - Creative and Emergency:

We have come up with some creative ideas for these speakers in order to get the best use out of them.

Here's a few ideas to get you started

  • Auditorium PA during Power Outage (via battery)
  • DJs in the Lobby or Outside.
  • Outdoor events
  • Outdoor speakers at entry locations
  • ATM builds for specialized sound elements
  • Anything else your creative brains can come up with! (just be safe)

ProTip: It's a great idea to sit down with the staff at your campus and create a plan for how to have a service if power goes out. The Eon One Pros can be a well incorporated into the plan, and we have provided a few documents in the section below to use as a guide.

Emergency Use - How it Works:

Practice makes perfect - Practice this process with your team regularly to ensure that everyone is versed on getting these speakers set up as an emergency PA.

Best Practices - Important!

These speakers have battery backup:

It is very important to keep these speakers plugged in when in storage.

These speakers are available for emergency use, as they will play audio for up to 8 hours on battery backup.

Bluetooth"

The second most useful feature of the Eon One Pro is the ability to use bluetooth from any compatible device. They have professional level XLR and ΒΌ Inch connectors, but we view bluetooth as the most flexible.

Height is not required:

Each unit has two extensions to add height to the speakers. This is great if you are trying to send the sound far and over people's heads. However, if you are using these in an ATM build for example, you do not have to use the two extensions. This allows you to keep the profile small and easily hidden in your ATM builds.

Microphones, Guitars, Keyboards, Ukuleles:

These speakers can also be used for live music-related purposes. Set the up in the lobby, connect them to a guitar and a mic and use them for a campus Christmas concert. There are a limited numbers of inputs, but you can get creative with it!

The most powerful speakers ever... Not really:

These speakers are not the most powerful portable setup, but we believe they will serve their purpose and can get loud enough without things getting out of hand.

  • Please be mindful when outdoors: You might not have outdoor speakers on your building for the reason to minimize the risk of upsetting a neighbor, so please be mindful. If you do choose to use them outside, point them away from houses or keep the volume at a reasonable level.
