Dante Best Practices

Updated on

At Life.Church, we use Dante to transmit audio throughout the auditorium. This article will focus on some best practices that can be applied on the ProTools computer to help make sure that audio keeps flowing smoothly.

1. Always Ensure WiFi is Turned Off:

Click the WiFi signal icon in the top toolbar on the computer and select Turn WiFi Off.

WiFi Signal Icon Not Present:

In the case that the WiFi signal icon is not present in the toolbar, it can always turn it off using System Preferences.

Open System Preferences.

Open Network.

Select WiFi and turn it off.

2. Quit Dropbox Completely Before rehearsal Starts

Click on the Dropbox logo in the desktop toolbar.

Click on the gear icon and select Quit Dropbox.

3. Before You Update:

Never perform an update without instruction to do so from a Central Tech Team member or a member of IT.

Updating prematurely can cause potentially fatal errors and Dante crashes.

We wait on updating until we have tested and ensured that new updates are compatible with all of our devices and programs, and the bugs have been worked out. As soon as a new update has been tested and verified, we will release communication stating it is safe to update.
