What is Dropbox?

Updated on

Life.Church uses Dropbox for Business to store, share and backup data for all Life.Church team members (and volunteers, too!).

Dropbox for Business is a file structure that utilizes the internet and a desktop application on your computer to store and sync your data. What is data you ask? Everything on your computer is some type of data: excel spreadsheets, your photos, weekend video or PrePresenter files and slides, potty pub documents and even notes or text files where you keep your top secret notes about being awesome.

Connect your personal and work Dropboxes

Not everyone is aware of this feature but it will save you lots of precious time!

When you connect your work and personal Dropboxes, you'll no longer have to log in and out of each Dropbox account to jump between presentations and vacation photos. The accounts will remain completely separate, but they'll both be easily accessible on all your devices.

In Finder on a Mac, or File Explorer on a PC, you have one Dropbox for Business folder labeled "Dropbox (Life.Church)". When you connect a personal folder, you will then have an identical folder labeled "Dropbox (Personal)". You can store anything you'd like in your personal folder!

Check out the Connect your Dropboxes article to learn more. (The IT Help Desk is happy to help you, too.)

This is awesome!! How do I get started with Dropbox for Business?

The good news is that you're already a part of Dropbox for Business as a member of Life.Church staff! You have to take one action step to get started and that is to accept the invitation you received in your Inbox that says "Get started with Dropbox for Business" and then click the link "Join your team" within the invitation.

After that, there are a few set up steps and you're up and running! If you have trouble getting started (some steps are confusing and now and then we run into a problem), please reach out to the IT Help Desk and we will straighten it right out.
