How to fix permissions error in Creative Cloud

If you are getting an error in Creative Cloud that says the folder may be set to "Read Only" follow these steps and it will fix your problem.

Start by closing out all Adobe programs.

Fix permissions in the Library folder

  • Minimize ALL windows and click on your Desktop. 
  • In the menu bar at the top, click on Go.
  • Hold down the Option button and click on Library.
  • Find and click on the Preferences folder.
  • Rename the Adobe folder to OldAdobe.

Update Documents Folder

  • Open Finder and then go to your Home folder in the left menu.
  • Rename the Adobe folder to OldAdobe.

Relaunch Creative Cloud App

It will take a few minutes to launch the first time because it is re creating the preference files.
