How to troubleshoot a Roku remote

If you are having issues with your remote or need to re-pair a remote to a unit please review these troubleshooting steps.

1. Make sure this remote hasn’t been switched from another room.

Each remote is paired to a specific Roku. So if you take a remote from Room A to to Room B, it will not work with the Roku unit in Room B until you pair them.

 

2. Try re-pairing the remote with the unit.

2.1. Make sure the Roku screen is up on the TV.

2.2. Take off the battery cover.

2.3. Make sure the batteries are correctly in place.

2.4. Press and hold the small black button at the bottom of the battery chamber on the back of the remote.

After holding the button for a few seconds, a notification on the TV screen should appear displaying that the Roku and Remote are pairing. After this disappears you should now be able to control the Roku again.

3. If the remote still does not work after pairing, the remote batteries may need replaced.
