Changing Your Mac Password

This article will allow you to change the password you use on your Mac to login, download and install software, and make system changes. An additional step must be completed to change your Life.Church password.

At the bottom of this article, you will be directed to change your Life.Church password.

First, within System Preferences/Settings, you will change your computer password.

Click on the Users and Groups option.

Highlight your user name on the left by clicking on your name. Click "Change Password..."

For the password requirement, you will be asked to meet each of the requirements in order to set up your new password.

  • Must contain at least 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase letter
  • Must contain at least 1 number
  • Must be a minimum of 8 characters
  • Must not be the same as previous 3 passwords
  • Expires once a year

Enter the new password, then verify it.

We also highly recommend a good password hint. If you forget your Mac password at any time, it will require assistance from IT to reset it.

Click "Change Password"
iCloud users will be prompted to update your Mac password in iCloud settings.

Return to the main page within System Preferences. Click iCloud.

Near the top of the window it says “Confirm Mac Password”, click "Continue".

Enter your new Mac password and click OK.

You can always confirm Mac password changes within System Preferences/Settings. Clicking "the lock to make changes" allows you to enter your new password. If it works, the password has been successfully changed.

Change your Life.Church password.

In the past, you may have had just ONE password that was able to connect to LCTV Staff WiFi, VPN, Coupa, Staff Portal and many other services. In order for you to continue to use one password to log into your Mac and other services, you will need to change your Life.Church password.
