How to clean/disinfect electronic devices

Updated on

Cleaning and disinfecting electronic devices is a must in this particular time. So here's how to do it:

Kiosks and iPads

As we are highly sensitive to providing a clean environment, we wanted to provide information on how to clean your kiosks and iPads.  This does NOT apply to your staff laptops.

  1.  Never spray directly on the device. Spray onto a soft cloth. Then lightly wipe the surface.
  2. Clean the touch screen with a BLEACH FREE disinfecting wipe ,e.g. Lysol Wipe. Do not use Oxvir or a bleach wipe as it has the potential to ruin your touch screen.
  3. Wipe the surface until visibly wet and leave air dry for approximately 4 minutes (or what your specific brand specifies). You may need to repeat this process if the screen was extra dirty.
  4. Once the screen is clean and dried, you MUST clean it with a microfiber cloth wipe off any residue that may have been left behind. This residue has the ability to hinder the touch performance of the machine.
  5. Once that's done, the device is ready for use.

Laptops

Here's a short video from Dell showing how to clean laptops and other devices:

What items to buy?

Microfiber cloth: Example: Progo Clothes

Cleaners: Lysol Wipes. Alternative: Clorox Wipes or any disinfecting NON-BLEACH wipes.
